Program Management and Administration
Program Management and Administration is evident in the following artifacts found in course work and practicum activities. The artifacts provided include a collection development plan, and two checklist items from practicum requirements.
The Collection Development Plan was coursework for FRIT 7134 Collection Development and Organization. During this project, I assessed the economics collection of the Loganville Christian Academy Library. I used both qualitative and quantitative assessment techniques. I evaluated the economics curriculum and created a materials order for the economics collection. Also included in this plan was a budget summary and a narrative that described the collection’s strengths and weaknesses. Collection Development Plan
As part of my practicum experience, I had the opportunity to evaluate the operation of the media center at Loganville high school using the Georgia Department of Education 2013 Library Program Evaluation Rubric. This was a great opportunity to sit down and discuss with the Library Media Specialist the operations in detail. I found that through this task, I was able to gain insight on the reasoning behind certain policies, and how certain policies must be developed to meet the unique needs of that school’s patrons. I crafted a memo to the principal summarizing the outcome of the evaluation. I also included an action plan to move one area from the proficient classification to the exemplary classification. The area for which I chose to offer recommendations is located under Administrative Support, #15 County/ Administrative Support of a strong media library program. I stated in my action steps that in order to move this ranking to exemplary, the county and school administration should increase budgetary support of the media center. The current budget and staffing cuts have made it very difficult for the media specialist to continue to provide an exemplary program for the students. Library Program Evaluation Memo
