Standard 3
Information and Knowledge
Information an Knowledge, Standard 3 can be exhibited through course work, practicum activities, and my PLN. The artifacts provided include a digital story, a flipped library wiki, a plagiarism info graphic, and resources located in my PLN.
In FRIT 7230 Selection and Development of Instructional Technologies, I was faced with the task of creating a digital story that would introduce students to the Loganville Christian Academy Media Center and its various physical, digital, and virtual collections and resources. The digital story features LCA students and is narrated by me. Students are informed of the various sections of the media center. They are also instructed in the proper procedures for checking out materials. Students also learn about the different types of media and activities in which they can take part while in the upper school media center. Media Center Digital Story
The practicum activities that best support Standard 3 are the activities completed during the Candidate as Information Specialist tasks. Those task include the flipped library project and the Ethical Use of Information task. For the flipped library task, I created a wiki to house the lesson content. Students could access this module to learn about searching in GALILEO, plagiarism, and a module that addresses evaluating websites. Students can access these modules at home and then complete the coursework in class with the help of their English teacher. For the Ethical Use of Information task, I created an info graphic about plagiarism that could be posted in the media center, classrooms, or in the hallways of the school. The info graphic addresses what plagiarism is, and how to avoid it. Flipped Library and Plagiarism Info-Graphic
My PLN has proven to be a great source of information sources, and services. The PLN includes tabs for Media/Library sources, general news, tools and technology, and information literacy. Each tab offers resources that correspond with the topic of that tab. Janet Leahr PLN
