Information Specialist
Task 1
The Flipped Library
This task included meeting with teachers to assess what learning opportunities I could be supported by providing Information literacy content for a flipped lessons. The LMS at the middle school identified the ELA team for having the most need for these models. However she also indicated that she could also share this information with the History and Science departments as well. After meeting with the ELA team and discussing upcoming research projects, we determined that students would benefit the most from modules that included searching in GALILEO, information on plagiarism, and evaluating websites.
For each of these models, I have offered various strategies for disseminating information. I created a wiki that is easily accessible for teachers and students alike. On the wiki the content is uploaded, or linked. The GALILEO module links to a video produced by GALILEO offering students specific techniques for advanced searching. The plagiarism module includes an uploaded Power Point presentation that I created using various open content sources. The evaluating websites module links students to an open content website that offers a well thought out process for evaluating web sites. I have created a worksheet for students to use when applying the website evaluation criteria. Please click on the The Flipped Library link to access the wiki.
Summary
The team was very pleased with the flipped lessons that were created for their students. They liked the idea of students accessing the content at home. In cases where students do not have internet access at home, the teachers will give them time in the media center to access the resources. They also liked the fact that the content was on a wiki that they can link to on their class web page. The teachers like the fact that students can review the content any time they need a review. The media specialist will also make the link available on the media center web page.

Task 2
For this task the goal was to share age appropriate information about ethical uses of information. After discussing the top information ethics issues for their school with the LMS, I choose the topic of plagiarism. Using the Piktochart website, I created an infographic poster that the middle school media specialist could post throughout the school to share factual information about plagiarism and creating proper citations.

Key Assessment: FRIt 8530
During the FRIT 8530 Applications of Instructional Technology course I was charged with creating a Technology Integration unit. The topic of my unit was Cyber Ethics. The unit was designed to allow students to access technology through open content websites, and prepared presentations. Students would also respond to questions and discussions by posting to the class wiki. The unit promoted inquiry because students were asked to conduct a survey and report their findings, and develop a point of view based on those findings. Technology Integration Presentation
Key Assessment: Frit 7230
In FRIT 7230 Selection and Development of Instructional Technologies, I was faced with the task of creating a digital story that would introduce students to the Loganville Christian Academy Media Center and its various physical, digital, and virtual collections and resources. The digital story features LCA students and is narrated by myself. Students are informed of the various sections of the media center. They are also instructed in the proper procedures for checking out materials. Students also learn about the different types of media and activities that they can take part in while in the upper school media center. Media Center Digital Story
